The New Stories Ecosystem

NewStories is part of a larger ecosystem of organizations and initiatives, each offering resources that help new opportunities emerge.

Great Transition Stories

An online encyclopedia of stories to support individuals and organizations during times of great upheaval and change.

Great Transition Stories is a library of stories that—at their heart—show us how to successfully transition through times of crisis. At this tipping point in history for our civiliation and our planet, many of the ideas that have worked for decades, for centuries, even for millennia are rapidly changing and even failing. We are in the “messy middle”, trying to make sense of profound disruption while navigating our way to a flourishing future. Great Transition Stories shares stories of our cosmologies, our history, and our biology that can help us find our way during these times. We name archetypal processes of change that can hold us and offer a path to abundance, beauty and wholeness. By opening our awareness to the deeper stories we’re in and where they lead, we can consciously choose to evolve our collective story towards wellbeing, justice, beauty and regenerative culture.

Transformative Kinship Circle

A network for social value organizations and funders across the globe which keeps community needs at the fore.

The Transformative Kinship Circle offers learning spaces in which to broaden collective knowledge of how to effect systems change, working at a local, bioregional and international level. We know that change happens at the local level and that the people working towards it are building systemic changes needed both for the present and future. We’ve also seen the enormous challenges communities, organizations, groups, practitioners, and leaders face in navigating the tides of change—from identifying and securing funding to acting with limited resources and time. The Transformative Kinship Circle supports collaborative solution-building, relationship building and knowledge sharing. We invite you to share your knowledge and develop adaptive expertise that will benefit our world as contexts change.

Transform Media

A publishing platform to learn from and meet authors, content creators and practitioners whose work is rooted in community.

The knowledge we need to develop a more just, sustainable world is already here. Much of this is local knowledge, which becomes even more powerful when connected with outside perspectives and experience. Transform Media connects readers and thinkers with those who have spent years developing deep experience helping people, communities and organizations transform. Readers can discover new books, meet authors, and engage in a variety of learning opportunities. This initiative was inspired by conversations between NewStories and Tokyo-based Eiji Press, and is founded on the work in Bob Stilger’s latest book, AfterNow: When We Cannot See the Future, Where do We Begin?

Upcoming publications include:

The story of Kufunda Learning Village, from founder Maaianne Knuth, and their building of communities over the last 20 years in the midst of the collapse of social, economic, political and physical infrastructure in Zimbabwe.

The story of Cocreation Movement in Japan brought people together in multiple ways to dream and act to create a new future in Japan after the March 11, 2011 disruptions of the Triple Disasters, written by Ai Sanda and Kenshu Kamura.

Practices

Resources and opportunities to engage with tried-and-tested practices from the NewStories team.

As practitioners working with communities across the globe, we are constantly learning and relearning. Coming soon, we will share a robust collection of resources and regularly scheduled learning opportunities to engage with others around the practices.
