NewStories is a capacity building organization working with communities, organizations, and individuals to build systems of interconnected relationship and action in service to life.
NewStories is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization working to strengthen the relational and narrative infrastructure needed for regenerative futures.
As facilitators, conveners, network weavers, researchers, coaches, and community organizers drawing on decades of grounded practice, we accompany leaders, communities, organizations, practitioners, and funders through seasons of rupture and change—supporting the emergence of new ways of living and working together.
At the center of this work is a core understanding: the stories we live within shape what we can see, what we can imagine, and how we act together.
A Time of Profound Transition
We are living within a period of profound transition—ecological, social, economic, and institutional. The assumptions that have guided modern systems are increasingly out of step with the realities we face, while the future remains largely undefined. In this context, disruption is not an exception—it is an ongoing condition.
Across communities and systems, new responses are emerging: ways of organizing, relating, and acting that are more adaptive, relational, and life-aligned. These efforts are often fragmented, occurring without shared language or visibility into the larger patterns they are part of.
What is required is not only innovation, but capacity: the capacity to remain in relationship, to make meaning together, and to move coherently in the midst of uncertainty. NewStories exists to strengthen that capacity—helping what is emerging recognize itself, connect, and grow.
Our Role
We work alongside communities, organizations, networks, and leaders navigating disruption, transition, and systemic change — helping strengthen the relational, narrative, and collaborative capacities needed for more life-serving futures to emerge.
Our work takes shape through initiatives such as Re-Storying Disaster, Great Transition Stories, The Resourcing Flow Initiative, and consulting and facilitation that supports transformative change in real-world contexts.
Evolution of the Work
NewStories began with a focus on storytelling and dialogue, grounded in the recognition that narrative shapes perception and action.
Over time, this work has expanded into a broader ecosystem of practice—integrating community-based initiatives, field-level learning, and organizational change.
Across more than two decades, we have accompanied communities through disaster recovery, supported networks navigating systemic change, and partnered with organizations seeking to evolve how they lead and operate.
What has deepened is not a shift away from storytelling, but a fuller realization of its implications: that Re-Storying is not only about narrative, but about how people relate, organize, and act together in the world.
