Organized in Snohomish County every year for the last five years, the 2020 Step Up Conference is entirely virtual. It’s inexpensive and can is even available for free, if you ask. They’ve created a pretty remarkable learning event for their local leaders on systemic racism. And they welcome folks from beyond Snohomish.
This one day virtual conference is designed for participants to gain deeper understanding and new perspectives about racial equity and social justice. Participants will leave with innovative tools on how to address systemic racism in their respective organizations and institutions that will be applicable across sectors. Adults and youth from all backgrounds and experiences are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The conference is intended to offer a variety of workshops for people with diverse interests and different levels of knowledge and experiences. The workshops cover a variety of topics including how to address institutional racism, white supremacy cultural norms and microaggressions. Participants will also explore decolonization of education, the intersection of race and LGBTQIA, systems change and more.
