Seeding a Field of Practice for Regenerative Resource Circulation
The Resourcing Flow Initiative is creating the conditions for an emerging field of practice to recognize itself, strengthening the flow of money, power, and care in service of life’s thriving.
We bring together practitioners approaching the same underlying challenge from complementary fields of practice to find one another, recognize shared patterns, and advance learning together—so that fragmented innovation can become coordinated action.
The Resourcing Flow Initiative exists to strengthen the connective tissue that allows this emerging field to recognize itself, learn together, and move with greater coherence.

The Context: A System Under Strain
The ways money and decision-making move actively undermine the very futures they intend to support.
Systems that sustain life are under strain, shaped by a growing mismatch between living systems and the cultural and economic constructs that impact them.
- Capital pools, even though life requires its circulation. Solutions built to fix that reliably reproduce the extraction they aim to solve.
- Decision-making concentrates with a few, excluding voices with valuable perspectives on issues that directly affect them.
- Leaders in proximity to communities spend disproportionate time seeking funding instead of doing the work they are uniquely networked and positioned for.
- Living ecosystems suffer from lack of access to flow at every scale—bioregions, watersheds, communities, organizations, families, and local habitats.
A New Field of Practice Is Emerging
Practitioners across different domains are working on facets of the same underlying challenge, each carrying hard-won insights that others rarely encounter because of their specializations.
Given the right conditions, practitioners can listen for understanding, create a shared pattern language, and explore possibilities for resourcing flow across the system that no single domain could discover alone.
Practitioners are doing extraordinary work, yet few know the key patterns and leverage points in what others are doing. This work is too important, and the moment too pressing, for these insights to stay siloed.
The emerging field of Resourcing Flow has yet to encounter itself.
This initiative exists to facilitate the field of “Resourcing Flow” to recognize itself, and act, as a field of applied inquiry and action.
Five Interrelated Domains of Action
These domains are interdependent. As the field becomes more connected to itself, it learns from its own experiments—supporting the coordination of resourcing flow at greater scale and with deeper accountability to life.
Regenerative & Relational Finance
Exploring non-extractive capital, values-aligned investment, community wealth-building, social finance, bio-fi, impact investing, and other ways of moving money in service of regeneration.
Trust-Based & Participatory Philanthropy
Shared Governance & Self-Organization
Experimenting with distributed leadership, cooperative structures, commons-based stewardship, community ownership, emergent organizing, and new organizational forms.
Decentralized Coordination Protocols & Infrastructure
Developing tools, protocols, digital commons, open-source systems, DAOs, Web3 infrastructure, public-goods funding, and other mechanisms for distributing coordination, ownership, and decision-making.
Bioregion & Community-in-Place
Rooting finance, governance, ownership, and coordination in the health of communities, watersheds, bioregions, and living systems.
Four Roles in the Field
Fields develop around the heart of shared practice. These four roles are already at work across the domains, though carried out in settings that may look nothing alike. As these roles become visible across domains, practitioners can understand one another’s learning and connect insights directly to future practice.
Resource
Circulators
Reimagining how capital moves—from extraction and stagnation to circulation of available abundance.
System
Weavers
Designing coordination without centralization—from hierarchy and fragmentation to distributed coherence.
Community
Alchemists
Applying and refining new patterns through grounded, place-based practice.
Pattern
Prototypers
Aligning with emerging patterns to investigate and iteratively improve practices and processes.
Seeding the Field
The Resourcing Flow Initiative does not seek to become the center of this emerging field. Our role is to create the conditions through which practitioners can encounter one another, learn across domains, recognize shared patterns, and develop the relationships and structures needed for coordinated action.
01 — Cultivate a Founding Partners’ Circle
Bring together twelve founding participants across domains and roles who share the vision and can help steward the relationships, resources, and networks from which the field can grow.
02 — Listen Deeply through Participatory Research
Gather stories and surface patterns across the five domains through participatory inquiry and action research—where the conversations themselves become part of the learning, relationship-building, and field development.
03 — Convene the Emerging Field
Bring a broader collection of practitioners together to discover how they have been working on the same underlying challenge from different vantage points—and support new relationships, shared language, and coordinated action to emerge.
04 — Prototype a Living Methodology
Harvest the patterns, principles, and practices emerging through the work, developing an evolving approach to cross-domain inquiry that others can adapt within their own complex systems.
What Becomes Possible:
As coherence grows across the emerging field:
- Stronger relational trust develops across sectors and roles.
- Shared understandings and principles allow the field to build internal coherence.
- Stories, metaphors, mental models, and frameworks strengthen collective sensemaking.
- Fragmentation and duplication of effort decrease.
- New collaborative experiments emerge around resource movement, decision-making, and accountability.
- Solutions become possible that no individual domain could have developed alone.
What We’re Building Toward:
The Initiative’s Core Inquiry: How can we create conditions that enable people working across different domains to develop the shared understandings, pattern language, mental models, and frameworks that a field needs—yet none of them could discover alone?
Heartfelt commitment to resourcing flow isn’t sufficient. Coherence will require flexible structures that sustain discernment and aligned practice.
We hold two roles: convening cross-domain conversations through experience-based facilitation, and mirroring what we hear back to the field.
We orchestrate experiences that bring forward the understandings and structures the field needs—without positioning ourselves at the field’s center.
Will you help seed a field whose time has come?
We invite you to bring your resources, your voice, and your networks to help activate the trust, shared understanding, and practical capacity this emerging field needs to research, reflect, and act together.
We are currently seeking members of the Founding Partners’ Circle and funding for Phase 1 of the work.
