Aaron Clark-Ginsberg is social scientist and policy researcher who has been focusing on community resilience to disaster for nearly two decades. Clark-Ginsberg grew up in Portland, Oregon, where he began his career as a wildland firefighter responding to fires across the Pacific Northwest. In the years since, Aaron traveled to over a dozen countries to help communities prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate a diverse set of hazards – from floods, to earthquakes, disease outbreaks, and oil spills. In the process, Clark-Ginsberg has authored over 100 technical reports, academic journal articles, book chapters, and commentaries targeting local, national, and global audiences.

Aaron understands the power that communities have in disaster risk management. To this end, he partners with frontline organizations to co-produce knowledge and translate community expertise and experiences in ways that affect system change.
