Our Core Team

  • Zanette Johnson PhD, Co-Director

Zanette serves as the Co-Director of the NewStories team. As an experience designer, neuroscientist, dancer, and dharma practitioner, Zanette invites the work of designing for Life from a place of joy. Two decades of work with Indigenous learning communities has taught her that values alignment, embodiment, and deep integration are keys to transformation that lasts. Bringing to life new patterns for relationship, resilience, and regenerativity is the work that inspires Zanette’s multifaceted dance with living systems design.

“I believe that the practices of our daily lives are the key to changing our world toward resilience—Relationship to place and ecology, relationship to kin and community, and relationship to self and shadow are vital elements that inform how each of us walks upon the Earth.”

  • Yve Susskind PhD, Principles Focused Developmental Evaluator

Yve serves as the Principles Focused Developmental Evaluator for NewStories. Yve has been working with NewStories since 2018, continuing to leverage over 20 years of experience supporting organizations by using values-based principles as the backbone of evaluation and planning. Through her company Praxis Associates, Yve has been providing evaluation services to nonprofits, community-based leaders, government entities and others who are transforming the way “business is done” to create a more equitable, just, and humane society. Yve believes evaluation is rooted in incorporating people’s lived experiences and identities when defining the impact and value of the activities they are engaged in.

“My mission is to support organizations and change-makers through all phases of the planning-action-learning cycle so they continuously grow in their effectiveness to fulfill their missions.”

  • Michele Stern

Michele has been bringing her sense of beauty and order to the NewStories family of websites for almost 20 years and now has expanded her role to support multiple NewStories endeavors. Before diving into a technology career, Michele was a geologist where she developed a deep love of nature. Along with her husband Steve, she has led small groups on desert camping trips and loves to introduce people to both the vastness and intimacy of that landscape. She never stops being awed by the diversity of all things - plants, animals, rocks, but particularly the similarities and differences between people and cultures of the world.
